About

AboutAlex

I am a Graphic Designer living in Brooklyn, New York. Originally from Cedar Falls, Iowa, I studied Journalism & Mass Communication as well as Design at the University of Iowa.

Classically trained (like a French chef) in Graphic Design, I gradually shifted my focus to web design. Soon after graduating I packed up my belongings, bought a one-way ticket and trekked east, landing in New York City. I’ve been here for the past two years, most recently working at a global digital agency. There I worked for clients like the American Heart Association, Brita, Ben & Jerry’s, AXE, Empire State Building and Microsoft focusing on websites and social media applications that strike a balance between functionality, usability and elegance.

Currently I work for myself, living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, with my french bulldog, Francis. You can find my resume (pdf) here.

AboutThe Site

This website is in it’s 4th or 5th incarnation. The first two have been lost to father time but the other two were salvaged. No guarantees – a recent move broke probably a few things.

The goal for this website is nothing more than to serve as a repository for the things that I find interesting and enjoy. Design, typography, technology, and french bulldogs(!) will all be featured prominently here.
